Beta Payment Plan Survey Results

Submitted by getzi on Tue, 07/28/2015 - 17:35

Last week we asked all voucher holders for their opinion and feedback regarding the 3 Phase payment system proposed last week. A good deal of people responded and now we want to share some insight on the results.

We asked if voucher holders approve the AXIOM Beta 3 Phase Payment concept:

Result:

We consider the 3 Phase payment as accepted (~85% in poll). Some said they prefer to pay the entire amount upfront, which is fine too. This means we might need to ask for a small additional payment when the camera has been shipped or refund a small amount to reach the accurate at-cost price for these backers. Other responses were suggesting to pay the entire amount once the camera is ready to ship, which would imply accepting higher prices for everyone. Additional feedback included that people wanted to see sample footage from the AXIOM Beta before committing further - which we will do as soon as we have the first set of Early Betas ready for action.

We asked voucher holders what we should do in case we do not reach 500 Phase 1 Payments:

Result:

Consequently, we will soon open up a number of slots for additional people to acquire an AXIOM Beta voucher. To keep it fair for those who committed to the project during the indiegogo campaign, the new vouchers will be a bit more expensive than during crowdfunding, but still offer a huge discount compared to the intended retail price. In return new voucher holders get early access to the camera and can participate in defining the roadmap, progress and future of the project.

Interest in AXIOM Beta generations

From the trends regarding interest in different AXIOM Beta generations we can see that the majority of voucher holders want to wait for a more mature version of the Beta and that only a small percentage is interested in acquiring the Early Beta I - Developer Edition.

Bulk accessory orders

Additionally, a very high number of voucher holders expressed interest in acquiring accessories like cables, rig components, HDMI recorders or EVFs in a collective order to get better bulk purchase prices. We will evaluate possibilities and see who would be interested in providing such volume deals to us. After all we are not a cinema gear reseller and don’t want to endorse one particular brand or product. Also we need to make sure any products that would be considered/suggested are tested and approved to work well with the AXIOM Beta.

We did think about releasing

We did think about releasing this as well but as we also offered the choice "I am undecided" and it received quite a number of hits we realized there is still a bit of confusion about the two different platforms and the stats might not be representative yet.

We did decide to intensify our efforts to explain the differences and making people aware of the implications of the two different "products" soon though.
