apertus° gives back what has been taken from the user, a return to power where it belongs. The word "Free" would cover this, but not out of necessity of being gratis. Free as in associated liberty.
Media: Creative Commons BY-SA v3.0
apertus° does not restrict users. Its workings are in the open to be studied. An invite to see what goes on behind the scenes. apertus° is yours, make it so by sharing, by and for all to enjoy.
Software: GNU GPLv3
Our goal is not to rob you of your privacy, freedom or money. An open ecosystem is one that benefits everyone in it, free software and open hardware makes this possible.
Hardware: CERN OHL v1.2
In our own experience with related open hardware businesses, giving others the ability to clone a project merely for profit can compromise on our work-ethic as craftsmen, and separates the project from the value we put in our philosophy, it also wont help us recoup non-recurring-engineering (NRE) costs. We are pragmatic about being able to capture video, by delivering viable solutions.
Signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in order to purchase imaging chips and receive accompanying documentation is the option our initiative has in the current marketplace. The NDA means that for some interfaces we may have to use proprietary protocols which we can not share freely (eg. “industry standard” but proprietary battery communication protocols).
Any hazard to the environment or the people working at apertus° is inherently contrary to the projects foundation.
